WHAT WERE YOUR CHILDHOOD AMBITIONS?

As a young kid, I wanted to be a professor.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?

Metal Bucks Corp. in Brooklyn, New York, before it became FHA Firedoor and moved to Maspeth, Queens, New York.

WHAT LED YOU TO THIS INDUSTRY?

Right after graduation from college, I got into a major motorcycle accident. About a year later, when I was able
to work, I checked the newspaper for a job. I found a listing for a detail drafter. When I showed up with my
college diploma, a young civil engineer graduate, I was hired on the spot. Metal Bucks Corp. was a hollow metal frame and door manufacturer. I worked there for about 12 years, creating all the machining sheets for the frame line and the door line, until I decided to move to Florida.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL MOMENT?

Sitting on the board of directors for the DHI Gold Coast Chapter in South Florida in 2001.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

Raising six kids. To see all my kids graduate from college. Three down—three to go.

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

Watching soccer every weekend—Premier League (England); Ligue 1 (France); Bundesliga (Germany); Major League Soccer (USA).

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK/MOVIE?

“12 Angry Men.”

WHO DO YOU CONSIDER A MENTOR OR HERO?

My dad. I try to do my best to pass it to my kids.

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?

Get a college degree.

HOW HAS YOUR INVOLVEMENT WITH DHI SUPPORTED YOUR CAREER?

DHI has been my life for the past 36 years. DHI provided me with all the tools that allowed me to move forward with my career. It’s the only industry or field I’ve ever worked in. So far, it’s been an amazing ride.
